Back!

Back in Florida.  Had a great time in NYC.  Now I begin my first real person job on monday!  how exciting... but before I go.... we had one last great dinner at Rosemary's on Greenwich.  The awesome part about Rosemary's is they grow all their produce/herbs on their "rooftop farm."  Take a gander below:

NYC

Been really busy in New York City.  Trying to see all my favorites who live here still and spend some time with my family.  Boyfriend has been looped into drinking with my father, lots.

My two favorite highlights thus far:

red panda hunting at the central park zoo!  

and...

brunch at Marc Forgione's restaurant!

While the central park zoo isn't nearly as big or cool as the bronx zoo, you can really get up close to see most of the animals there, which is something I love.  Additionally, the red pandas do a little "panda patrol" around the perimeter of their enclosure, stopping to pose and smile for the cameras!

Additionally, the snow leopard is totally sweet... but he was moving way too quickly for a picture.

And Marc Forgione's is amazing, as you would expect from an Iron Chef.  

DONE + NYC + Work

hectic two weeks.  Took the bar exam.  On my way to NYC.  Then on my way to the first day of my first real job.  huzzah.

Hectic

Things have been pretty hectic lately... what with the bar exam in two weeks.  On the bright side of things, my hair has been unusually cooperative lately.

except in this last picture.  I just love Hershey.

Other things to look forward to?  Trip to NYC in two weeks :)  Annnd- brunch at Marc Forgione's with my other soul mate.  ;) ;)

An Assumption that Drives me Nuts?

That petite girls can't be curvy.  I have long found myself with two fit options: Either it fits across my 32D chest and fits nowhere else, OR it fits in the shoulders and doesn't even come close to buttoning across my boobs.

What gives, designers?

Well, I know what gives.   Most petite girls must not be, or they'd make more options available since they would sell.

I'm always on the hunt for designers who accommodate my frame, and Shoshanna has to be one of my faves.

In other news, my babies are adjusting to life in boca nicely.  they have their own room here, haha, thank god.  I couldn't deal with Laila's mewing in the morning much longer.

Apparently, I have discovered, I was years ahead of my time in high school when I used to wear entirely too many bracelets.  I thought that was just a terrible fashion faux paus for the longest time.  Now it's super trendy.  haha.

I tried to find evidence of my doing it, but I've managed to destroy most of those photos over the years.

Productive Week

Beached, ate all the good food in Miami, and hung out with my beeestie.  Now he's back to new york city again :(  But!  it was nice to catch him twice in four months, haha.

btw, never go to the bar called "the bar" in coral gables.  ever.  seriously.  don't do it.  what a bunch of jerks.  I got pulled outside by my friends and separated from my boyfriend.  He had opened a tab, but when he noticed I was missing, he came to find me.  However, he hadn't closed his tab first.  They wouldn't let us back in to close the tab and told us to get in the back of the line. when we finally managed to get inside, they had lost his credit card.  Terrible people who run their business in a great way to lose customers.  It's not even like they're some hot shit club on South Beach that can pull that nonsense.  They're just some dingy bar in Coral Gables that is dead 6/7 nights of the week.  Get over yourselves, for serious.

Victoria Secret: Sans Photoshop

Sometimes, we all hate the way our bodies look.  I think this has always existed, but has recently been horribly exacerbated by the proliferation of photoshoping on every image we consume, even graduation photos!  At any rate, every once in a while, we need to remind ourselves that the images we see are not reality as it is.  Take a long at some unphotoshopped VS models, namelyAlessandra Ambrosio, Crystal Renn and Brooklyn Decker.  This was taken at a VS catalogue shoot.

Still beautiful women.  Just not as flawless as we perceive. 

Penne Bolognese

My boyfriend told me once that his favorite dish was a bolognese sauce.  Since I enjoy making dinner for him, and he loves homemade food, I set out to find a good bolognese recipe for him.  So far, this has been a big winner. See the recipe below.

2 ¼ oz butter

1 onion, finely chopped

1 carrot, diced

1 ¾ oz pancetta, diced

1 lb 2 oz ground beef

1 tbsp chopped oregano

1 cup dry red wine

2 cups beef stock

2 tbsp concentrated tomato puree

1lb 12 oz canned, crushed tomatoes

14 oz penne

2 garlic cloves

3 tbsp grated parmesan

Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.  Add the onion and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until soft.  Add the garlic, celery, and carrot, and cook, stirring, over low heat, for 5 minutes.  Increase the heat to high, add the pancetta, beef, and oregano, and cook for 4-5 minutes or until browned.

Add the wine, reduce heat and simmer for 4-5 minutes, or until absorbed.  Add the stock, tomato puree, and tomatoes and season.  Cover with a lid and simmer for 1½ hours, stirring occasionally.  Uncover and simer for a further 1 hour, stirring occasionally. 

Cook the pasta in a large saucepan of boiling salted water until al dente.  Drain and return to pan to keep warm.  Top the pasta with the sauce, serve with the parmesan.

Going to Ocala

For the last night of my boyfriend's spring break, we're going to Ocala to visit some of his family.  His aunt is a huge fan of Henri Bendel's chocolate, so I always bring her a little "thank you for having me" present compilation.

A quick update on the kittens.  Minka is now huge.  Laila is quickly gaining on her, though.  They were being real pains while I was trying to wrap the presents.

Also, Laila loves Law way more than me.  I am jealous.  Sometimes she grooms him...

Barrister's Ball!

Or as we like to call it, law school prom.  You get to dress up, some people dance, there's a dinner, and wine and beer.  Overall, it's a fun little night.

It's my default formal dress, by BCBG.  I'm convinced it's timeless because they keep rereleasing it every year in different colors.

They had a photo booth there!  I love photo booths.  I used to go to one in coney island all the time with my friends.
