Skyward Sword

I understand this isn't very stylish of me, but in addition to my preoccupation with style, boyfriend, and minka, I have another love in my life, and that love is Link.

I have literally been playing the Legend of Zelda series since I could remember.  I had, or rather, my father had, the original Zelda and its sequel on NES.  I fell head over heels with the series over playing "Link to the Past."  And just when you thought it couldn't get any better- Ocarina of Time hit the N64.  I could play either of those games over and over.  (Link's Awakening, Four Swords, Oracle of Seasons, Windwaker, I liked, but seriously- they do not compare.  We'll just pretend phantom hourglass and majora's mask didn't happen.  Especially Majora's mask.)

And honestly, I loved Twilight Princess.  Really, thoroughly enjoyed it and spent a whole summer determined to get every last golden bug and poe there was.  I was successful in my bug mission.  There are still two poes that evade me and I have come to realize that no matter what I do, they will always be out of reach unless I reset the game and follow a list.

So you can appreciate how sad I am to NOT be playing Skyward Sword.  This is all I want to do.  I do not want to study for the bar, I do not want to study for finals.  I want to lock myself in a room and have a love affair with that game for two weeks.

I am going to be a sad panda now.

:'(

(Other games I luuurve?  The final fantasy series, which I love equally as much as Zelda and have been playing for about as long, Assassin's Creed, GTA, haha, I know, right?  Soul Caliber(!!) Super Smash Brothers when with friends, of course I love Mario games, though the Super Mario Galaxy game had me a little dizzy.  I also kiiind of want to play the new golden eye, but boyfriend says it's never going to be the same and I should just give up.  There's others.. but those are the top.  I liked Heavenly Sword, but I think I was the only person who did. :/)

Minka hates studying

Mom got me one of these bad boys on sale for $230 today from Rue La La's deal of the day.  The deal ended at 2 though. :(

Nespresso at ShopStyle

Considering the love I have for cappuccinos- I'm pretty excited.  I've tried this before because my good friends have one and I already vetted it as delicious.  :)  (squee.)

Back to Work

Now that the holiday weekend is over, at least for us, it's time to get back to finals.  But, before we go...

Went out in Ft. Lauderdale last night on Riverfront.  Apparently, it was a giant high school reunion for boyfriend.  I like to avoid high school reunions, personally.  But I also looked like this in high school:

I have, in fact, come a long way.  Anyway, my outfit for last night:

this is actually an older picture of the dress, but I hadn't taken a length shot of it for the evening.

I actually love this dress tons, got it on sale at Macy's, which I usually hate.
Dress: RACHEL by Rachel Roy
Shoes: Traffic
Clutch: Jimmy Choo
Necklace: Alfani, also from Macy's

Makeup Shot:

make up is an amalgamation of stilla palettes and urban decay's eyeshadow set.  I use tart for cheek/lip stain, though.  Earrings are Calvin Klein, I think?  Present from my mother.

And in other news, we drove Minka home from boca and she got loose in the car for a minute... see here:

tsk.  I got her out of there right away.

Anyone black friday shopping today?  boyfriend and I stopped by the mall briefly.  He ended up impulse buying a PS3.  I want a wii so we can complete our trifecta of gaming systems.

Tonight we will party it up in Ft. Laud.  Like responsible law students.

Pie!

Today I made a pie.  The recipe can be found at foodnetwork.com.... but quick tip- make the crisco cold, and make sure to do the rolling on wax paper.  Here are some pictures of the pie.

The pie is for thanksgiving in Boca with the boyfriend's family.  We also have to stop by his mother's in ft. lauderdale.  Should be fun.  Happy thanksgiving everyone!

Quick Minka Update

Minka is super excited for finals, too.

My two great loves.  Total keepers, I know:

they are basically what I'm thankful for this year.  I'm thankful for all the people that love me, namely my boyfriend, my kitten, my parents, and my boyfriend's family.  :)

Minka's First Vet Trip

We had to take Minka to the vet today for the first time because it appears she has flatworm.  Sadly, she does in fact have flatworm.  We suspect she got it while she was still at the shelter and only started showing symptoms now.  Either way, we are taking care of it.  She did not like the vet.  She spent the whole time shaking, I felt so bad for her.  :(

Boyfriend is now boiling chicken for her to make up for it.  haha.  Hopefully, she likes.

I spend my days in Miami now, but I am originally from Long Island and lived in Manhattan for four years.  My living habitats ranged from Gramercy, to Union Square, and the Lower East Side.  Union Square was definitely my favorite, but if I could have, I totally would have lived in the Washington Mews.

This particular photo shoot was inspired by the late, great Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face, and obviously took place during some warmer days.

so here's my take on this look, featuring washington square park and the washington mews.

my favorite of the bunch:

The dress is from Anthropologie circa 2006, and the shoes are (surprisingly) from Frederick's of Hollywood.  More shockingly, stolen from my mother.

While I'm on the topic of New York, I'd like to share my *other* favorite parts:

Tights: Forever 21

dress: forever 21 circa 2009.

Fab. friends?  Limited edition only.

Will Do More Later

But first, I wanted to share Bob Ross feeding a squirrel... via Cute Overload.

Lawyering, the big 3-0, and finals.

This weekend was super hectic.  First up was my boyfriend's mock trial in which I played the star witness- I think he looked pretty good doing his lawyering:

Unfortunately, he lost.  Not because he wasn't the better party, not because the case was slanted against him, but because one crazy juror just steam-rolled over all the other jurors until the agreed with her.  But that's real life.  The same thing happened to me in my trial.  Jurors are a complete crap shoot.  God help you if you ever have to be judged by a jury of your peers because you are in some serious trouble.  If the facts are on your side, go for bench trial.

Other than that, we had a great big birthday bash for a good friend of ours from law school.  It was his 30th birthday and he was going for it in style.  He had an open bar for his friends at club50 in the Viceroy, which is actually a rather impressive sight.  It's on the 50th floor of the hotel and towers above all of the other buildings in Brickell.

Hopefully I will have real pictures from the party soon.  Everyone was looking pretty awesome, a last hooray before finals....

Which my boyfriend and I are sick just in time for.

Kitten + Duvet

A while ago, when Missoni for Target was all the rage, I managed to snag myself a duvet and a shower curtain.  I wasn't actually interested in any of the clothes, but I thought the housewares were too adorable to resist.  Besides, I don't think if I were going to buy a real missoni item it would be one of their fantastically overpriced housewares.  It's not like I'm going to spend my $450 on a Missoni beach towel...

Though I do love this table:

Normally, a Missoni bedspread costs $1,460, apparently.

But, back to the duvet.  My boyfriend and I had sort of agreed that we would save it for when we lived somewhere nicer and not our current hot mess of an apartment, but lately our down comforter has just been too hot for him, even with the temperature down to 67 degrees.  In response, I switched to the other comforter, but its duvet was obviously in need of some cleaning.  So I threw on the target duvet.  Minka seemed to like it, at least.

and a couple of gratuitous minka shots:

I particularly like that last one.

NINJA EDIT: MINKA AND HER PINK ELEPHANT:

I swear this all started out because of the duvet.

As far as the quality goes on the duvet, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the duvet was.  I was expecting low quality- you know, it being target and a designer item at a "low-end" price.  The colors are very rich and it doesn't feel like I'm being scratched when I touch it, either.
